Commissioner Kabir Abbas Praises Contractors for 556km Road Projects, Calls for Urgent, High-Quality Completion
The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure Development, Hon. Kabir Abbas, has recognized the contractors involved in the ongoing 556km road projects in Tafa, Gurara, and Paiko Local Government Areas of Niger State, commending their work for quality and adherence to standards.
During an inspection tour of the project sites, Hon. Abbas expressed satisfaction with the progress, noting compliance with approved engineering specifications across all locations.
He highlighted the projects’ strategic importance to Niger State’s socio-economic growth, emphasizing that improved transportation infrastructure will boost mobility, facilitate trade, and enhance access to rural communities.
While praising the contractors for their efforts, Abbas urged them to accelerate work pace to meet deadlines and ensure timely project completion.
He stressed that quality must remain uncompromised, promising ongoing strict supervision to uphold construction standards throughout the project duration.
The Commissioner reminded contractors that the current administration prioritizes durable infrastructure that provides value for money, indicating only projects meeting set standards will be accepted.
During the visit, Engineer Yahaya Liman Zakari, Managing Director of Maikwatu Construction Company, expressed gratitude to the Niger State Government and Ministry for the opportunity to manage the Tafa segment of the project.
Zakari assured full commitment to delivering a high-quality, durable road, vowing not to disappoint the Ministry or the people of Niger State.
Similarly, Engineer Charbel Al-Tekli, Managing Director of Matilda Construction Company, responsible for the Gawu and Paiko Local Government roads, reported that work is nearing completion.
Al-Tekli announced plans to request site handover soon, reaffirming their dedication to high standards and projects that stand the test of time.
