An Open Letter to the “G15” APC Members and the Good People of Kwara State

Dear Distinguished Elders,
I write this letter with a deep sense of concern for the future of our great party and our beloved state. The growing opposition and attendant protests by our own party members following the governorship primary election have become a source of worry for many loyal party members who desire nothing more than the unity and progress of Kwara State.

I am not unaware of the complaints surrounding the conduct of the primary elections. There have been allegations of irregularities, and various forms of malpractices.
However, we must also be sincere enough to examine our positions with fairness and consistency.

Let’s cast our minds back to some eight years ago, the same political process that has now come under heavy criticism is, in no way different from the process through which our incumbent governor emerged. At that time, it was embraced and defended by many of those who reject it today.

This naturally raises an important question: if the process was acceptable then, why is it suddenly unacceptable now?
We must also ask ourselves another honest question. If this same primary election had produced a candidate from Kwara Central, or if any of those currently protesting had emerged victorious through the same process, would they have taken their present stance? The answer, if we are truthful, is one that every discerning Kwaran already knows.

Politics should not be driven solely by personal ambition. Every aspirant entered the contest hoping to emerge as the party’s candidate. Unfortunately, in every contest, only one person can emerge. Once that process is concluded, the greater responsibility is to protect the party and preserve the collective interest above individual disappointment.

Kwara State belongs to all of us. Every senatorial district deserves fairness, inclusion, and a genuine sense of belonging.

I therefore appeal to every APC member and all well-meaning Kwarans to put the primary election behind us and work together for the victory of Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi in the 2027 general elections.

Primaries are internal contests, general elections are battles that require unity and collective sacrifice. The primary has come and gone, but the APC remains our common platform for delivering good governance to the people of Kwara State.

To my respected elders and political stakeholders from Kwara North, I make this appeal with humility and sincerity. Many of you passionately advocated that the governor should support a single aspirant from Kwara North, assuring the people that whoever emerged would enjoy your full support. Today, someone from our region has emerged. This is the moment to honour that commitment and demonstrate that our struggle has always been about equity, justice, and the advancement of Kwara North, not personal ambition.

Let us not allow individual aspirations to overshadow the collective dream of our people. Let history remember this generation of leaders as those who placed the interests of the region and the state above personal inteerets. Let us not create the impression that our commitment to power shift was conditional upon personal victory.

For decades, the people of Kwara North have remained loyal stakeholders in the political development of our state. Today, history has presented the region with a rare opportunity to produce the next governor.

Such opportunities are precious and should unite us rather than divide us
This is a defining moment for Kwara North. Opportunities like this do not come frequently. If we allow internal divisions and personal grievances to deny us this chance, history may not forgive us.
Let us sheath our swords and move forward together.

Those who did not emerge today will certainly have another opportunity tomorrow. But for now, the responsibility before us is greater than any individual aspiration. It is the responsibility to protect our party, preserve our unity, and secure victory for the APC in 2027.

May God continue to bless Kwara State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Yours loyal party member,
Abdullahi Shuaib,
Minna, Niger State.
