NUJ Praises Bago’s Progress and Calls for Media Sector Development
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Niger State Council, has commended Governor Mohammed Umar Bago for his commitment, bravery, and perseverance in advancing the socio-economic growth of Niger State, aligning with the objectives of the New Niger Agenda over the past three years.
In a statement commemorating the governor’s third year in office, NUJ State Secretary Comrade Usman Chiji expressed confidence that with ongoing support and prayers from the citizens, Niger State will soon emerge as one of the leading developed states in Northern Nigeria and nationally.
The union particularly lauded Governor Bago’s notable progress in key sectors such as rural infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare, education, civil service reforms, and the consistent payment of salaries and allowances.
Comrade Chiji highlighted that all 25 local government areas have benefited from the administration’s development initiatives, including the construction and renovation of roads connecting various localities.
These infrastructure improvements have significantly enhanced the movement of goods and services, thereby stimulating economic activity at the grassroots level.
Furthermore, the NUJ recognized advancements in education, notably the establishment of new universities and a teaching hospital, which mark significant milestones. The union also called on the APC-led government to prioritize the development of state-owned media outlets by upgrading them with modern digital technologies to boost productivity and staff welfare.
Reaffirming its support for the Bago administration, the NUJ expressed hope for a sustained partnership with the government to strengthen collaboration with media professionals across the state.
