Controller of Corrections, Niger State Command, Pays Courtesy Visit to the Emir of Minna:
The Controller of Corrections for the Niger State command, CC Ogunleye Seyi Oladipupo, visited His Royal Highness, Alh. Dr. Umar Faruk Bahago, CON, the Emir of Minna, at the Emir’s Palace in Minna recently.
In a press statement released to journalists in Minna, Rabiu Mohammed Shuaibu, CPRO, explained that the visit was part of the command’s ongoing efforts to engage with traditional authorities to strengthen collaboration on inmate rehabilitation, security, and the successful reintegration of ex-inmates into society.
During the visit, CC Ogunleye briefed the Emir on the mandate of the Nigerian Correctional Service under the NCoS Act 2019 and asked for the Emirate’s support in raising awareness in communities to help ex-inmates accept and support them after their release.
In response, the Emir of Minna praised the Nigerian Correctional Service, led by the Controller General of Corrections, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, MFR, mni, for its role in maintaining peace and security in the state.
He pledged the Emirate’s continued support and emphasized the importance of moral and religious guidance in reforming inmates.
“The Emirate will work with traditional rulers across the Minna Emirate to ensure that ex-inmates are welcomed back into their communities and given opportunities to rebuild their lives,” the royal father added.
CC Ogunleye Seyi Oladipupo expressed gratitude to His Royal Highness for the warm reception and assured him of the command’s dedication to upholding human rights and supporting effective rehabilitation programs.
Senior officers from the state headquarters office and the MSCC Minna Old accompanied CC Ogunleye.
