N-HYPADEC Acknowledges Journalists’ Support,Reiterates Flood Mitigation Commitment
The National Hydro Electric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPADEC) has credited its significant achievements to the consistent support of journalists and the dedicated leadership of its Managing Director, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa, the Katukan Yauri.

This recognition was expressed by Alhaji Nura Tanko Wakili, the Head of Press and Public Affairs of the Commission, during a courtesy call to the executive members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Niger State Council, at the IBB Pen House in Minna.
Alhaji Wakili highlighted that the visit aimed to reinforce the strong relationship between the Commission and the media, while appreciating journalists for their objective and continuous coverage of N-HYPADEC’s activities.
He reaffirmed the Commission’s dedication to fulfilling its mandate of flood mitigation and providing essential amenities to communities within its jurisdictions.
Alhaji Wakili, a former Acting Chairman of the NUJ Kebbi State Council, described journalists as vital partners in executing the Commission’s programs effectively.
He also presented the publication titled “Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa: The Making of N-HYPADEC” to the NUJ State Chairman for review and professional input.
In his response, Dr. Abu Nmodu, Chairman of the NUJ Niger State Council, expressed appreciation to Alhaji Yelwa for connecting the IBB Pen House to a 33 KVA power line, which now ensures an uninterrupted power supply.
Dr. Nmodu urged the Commission to consider landscaping the Press Centre’s frontage to create a more serene and productive environment for journalists.
He also praised Alhaji Nura Tanko Wakili for his exemplary relationship with media practitioners, reflecting positive engagement from the NUJ Kebbi State Council.
He assured that state journalists will continue to promote N-HYPADEC’s activities, supporting the Commission’s objectives effectively.
