Governor Umaru Bago Commits to Gender Inclusivity in Leadership
Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to promoting gender inclusivity within governance structures.
This commitment was highlighted during a recent meeting with the newly elected chairpersons and their vice chairpersons, all of whom are women, at the Government House in Minna.
In his remarks, Governor Bago emphasized the vital role women play in democracy, noting that a significant portion of the electorate comprises female voters. “Most of the people who came out to vote are women. Women have been the ones oiling democracy, and as such, they need to be allowed to participate,” he stated.
The governor described the election of women to vice chairperson roles as a significant step forward and a litmus test for their future involvement in higher positions of leadership.
He encouraged the newly elected women to support their chairpersons and work collaboratively to foster development in their respective local government areas.
Governor Bago’s administration aims to create an environment where women not only feel empowered to participate but also thrive in leadership roles.
He urged the elected officials not to feel intimidated by their male counterparts and promised continued support for initiatives that promote gender equality in governance.
