Niger State Rotary Action Group Launches Grassroots Peace and Security Initiative.
To commemorate World Peace Day in Niger State, the Rotary Action Group for Peace in Nigeria has officially launched a grassroots peace and security assessment in the state.
Speaking at a one-day stakeholders meeting on Thursday at Leman Suites, Gidan Kwanu School, Tunga Minna, the Coordinator of the Rotary Action Group for Peace in Niger State, Rotarian Fauziya Abubakar Kure, emphasized the significance of peace and called for collaborative efforts to establish it firmly in the state.
“As the State Coordinator of the Rotary Action Group for Peace in Nigeria, I am honored to address you today regarding the recently launched National Community Violence Reduction Programme, in commemoration of World Peace Day, which was observed on September 21, 2025,” she stated.
According to Fauziya, Rotarians in Niger State are dedicated to ensuring that peace prevails amidst current realities and challenges. She noted that the National Community Violence Reduction Programme aligns with their efforts to enhance peacebuilding, security, and community engagement.
The coordinator further revealed that Rotarians in the state recognize the importance of collaboration in addressing violence and promoting peace. She called for partnerships and sponsorships from well-meaning Nigerians to support these initiatives.
Fauziya explained that, in alignment with the National Community Violence Reduction Programme, various initiatives have been set up as part of the 2025 activities to promote peace across different sectors of society.
Such initiatives include the State Peace and Security Summit, the launch of an integrated Early Warning – Early Response system, and the commissioning of Youth on Social Media Police.
“Our primary concern focuses on providing specialized training in peace and security for grassroots security personnel and the public, drug education, peace building, and deradicalization programs aimed at fostering a culture of peace, enhancing security, and building resilience within our communities,” she added.
“As we look forward to your support in promoting peace in our state to commemorate World Peace Day, we remain committed to working with all stakeholders to achieve the goals outlined in the National Community Violence Reduction Programme,” Hajiya Fauziya reiterated.
Stakeholders at the meeting included Rotarian Modupe, past Assistant President and President Nominee, and Rotarian Kazeem from the Rotary Club of Ring Road, Ibadan.
