Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has officially approved the Niger State Environmental Sanitation and Waste Control Regulations 2025.
This new legislative framework will govern various aspects of environmental sanitation and waste management across the state, complementing existing laws.
Under these regulations, every individual, property, and vehicle—whether stationary or in motion—will bear responsibility for maintaining cleanliness in their immediate surroundings.
In alignment with the powers conferred by Section 5 (1) (2) of the Niger State Environmental Protection Agency Law, 2022 (as amended), Governor Bago has declared the last Saturday of each month as Environmental Sanitation Day.
On these designated days, there will be restrictions on the movement of individuals and vehicles from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
During the restricted hours, it is imperative that all residents conduct thorough cleaning of their premises and ensure the safe disposal of waste.
This initiative aims to foster a clean and sustainable environment for all citizens of Niger State.
