Dikko Tanker Explosion – Devastating Grief for Nigeria – Ketso
The Dikko tanker explosion, which resulted in numerous fatalities and left many severely burned, has caused the loss of hundreds of millions of naira in property. This devastating and catastrophic event has cast a tragic shadow not only over Niger State but the entire nation.
The tragedy in Dikko, which I can only imagine has caused profound sorrow and pain for the victims and their families, serves as a stark reminder of the necessity for prioritizing safety, responsible behavior, orderliness, and cautionary measures in order to prevent unnecessary loss of life and property among innocent Nigerians.
It is crucial that all hands work together to ensure efficient disaster prevention and risk reduction measures are implemented to prevent future occurrences.
Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago of Niger State has once again demonstrated his commitment to his oath of office by swiftly visiting the scene of the disaster while it was ongoing.
He has approved payment for the treatment of the injured and directed the immediate deployment of doctors from Minna General Hospital to assist in the treatment efforts at Suleja General Hospital.
The emergency services, first responders, and security agencies deserve commendation for their effective management of the aftermath of this disaster.
On behalf of my family, I express my heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Niger State, particularly to the families of those who lost their lives and properties.
May Allah grant a quick recovery to those injured and receiving treatment, and may He also restore the properties of those who suffered great losses. Amin, Ya Hayyu, Ya Qayyum.
Signed,
H.E. Ahmed Mohammed Ketso
Former Deputy Governor of Niger State
