In a recent Zoom press briefing held in Minna, Alhaji Isa Liman Kantigi, the gubernatorial candidate for the People Democratic Party, addressed ongoing speculation regarding his potential candidacy for the Niger State governorship in the 2027 general election.
Kantigi expressed his support for the current Governor, Muhammed Umaru Bago, urging political leaders in Zone A to unite behind Bago for a second term.
He emphasized the importance of allowing the governor to complete the significant projects he has initiated across the state’s local government areas.
“With the emergence of Umaru Bago as governor, he has embarked on an unprecedented array of projects,” Kantigi stated.
“What he needs now is our prayers and support to fulfill the New Niger Agenda, free from any distractions.”
Kantigi warned that any individuals attempting to introduce alternative candidates for the governorship in 2027 would do so at their own risk, indicating a lack of support from the community.
He stressed the importance of creating an environment where members of all political parties can recognize and appreciate the achievements of elected officials, irrespective of their political affiliations.
He concluded by urging potential candidates for the governorship to reconsider their ambitions and rally behind Governor Bago, allowing him to complete his developmental initiatives across the state’s twenty-five local government areas.
