NUP Commend Gov. Bago for payment of gratuity to pensioners, inaugurates Media team.
Governor Muhammed Umaru Bago of Niger state have been commended for keeping to his words on the payment of gratuity to pensioners in the state.
The Chairman, Nigeria Union of pensioners, Niger state chapter, Comrade Ishaku Ndagi made the commendation today at the inauguration of the Union’s media team at the pensioners House off Mandela road Minna.
He mentioned that the gesture has put a smile on the faces of retirees in the state, particularly those that have waited for years.
Comrade Ndagi also commended pensioners in the state for their support, patience and understanding with the leadership of the Union and the government as well.
He appealled to the Niger state government to always consider pensioners in all salary increment,particularly of the new minimum wage of seventy thousand naira.
Comrade Ndagi then commended the media team for the support and publicity that the Union has enjoyed from journalists in the state.
The media team has thirteen members which is expected to liase with the Executives of the Union to publicize it activities to the general public.
According to the Chairman,the media team is saddled with the responsibility of tackling issues that will need immediate answers,raised by pensioners and the general public as it relates to the activities of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners in the State.
He pointed out that the Union media team shall serve as a forum that will make problems of the Union known to the government and to the retirees, to avoid speculation amongst senior citizens, pensioners”.
He also stated that the team is also expected to pass some of the Union programmes of action that are stocked for the members and that of the government that may be of great importance to the pensioners.
The media team is headed by the Public Relations officer of the Union, Comrade Mohammed Erena, while Yahaya Musbau will serve as secretary with Mohammed Sule as assistant secretary.
