UNICEF in collaboration with Niger state Govt. sensitise corps members on use of Nigeria learning passport platform
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in collaboration with Niger State Ministry for Basic and Secondary Education, has sensitised corps members on the use of Nigeria Learning Passport (NLP) platform.
The UNICEF Focal Person in the Niger State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education,
Malam Farouk Suleiman Mashegu, said this at the sensitisation of corps members at the NYSC orientation camp in Paiko on Saturday.
He said the sensitisation was to introduced corps members to NLP to become conversant with the contents on the platform especially those that would be posted to schools.
“What we want to achieve is to catch them before they are deployed to schools so by the time they get to school, they will be already embedded with NLP.
“The platform will be guides on how to go about teaching students both online and offline so that pupils will not miss out of learning.
“We believe that extending network down to NYSC, we will have substantial number of users on board going forward,” he said.
He disclosed that UNICEF in collaboration with the ministry is currently training 2,500 teachers, adding that 3,150 head teachers had already been trained on utilisation of NPL platform.
Mashegu added that that about 15,620 users were currently using NPL in Niger state, adding that the platform helps students to take lessons online and offline.
According to him, the platform helps students and teachers to learn from homes not just within the classroom and is very flexible that allows everyone to be on board for continuous learning.
The Federal Ministry of Education in partnership was UNICEF launched NLP is an online and offline learning platform to provide continuous access to quality education to learners.
