NSERC Holds Capacity Building Training on Niger State Electricity Market Frameworks

The Niger State Electricity Regulatory Commission (NSERC), in collaboration with Greenbridge Partners and the German Cooperation (GIZ), has commenced a two-day Capacity Building Training on “Understanding the Niger State Electricity Market and its Legal & Regulatory Frameworks.”
The training, which is taking place from 25th to 26th May 2026 at Avant Garde Hotel, Minna, is aimed at enhancing stakeholders’ understanding of the legal, regulatory, and commercial dynamics of the electricity sector in Niger State.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman /CEO of NSERC, Engr. Mohamed Sharu, FNSE, welcomed participants and stressed the importance of strengthening institutional knowledge and stakeholder engagement towards the effective implementation of the Niger State Electricity Market (NSEM).
He noted that building technical and regulatory capacity remains essential for ensuring a transparent, efficient, and sustainable electricity market capable of meeting the growing energy needs of the state.
Delivering a goodwill message, The chief Judge of Niger State represented by Honorable justice Mohamed S.A Mohamed ,commended NSERC and its development partners for organizing the training programme, emphasizing the critical role of legal and regulatory compliance in promoting accountability, transparency, and sustainability within the electricity sector.
The GIZ represented by Dr Alexander Akolo, the Energy Markets Reform Advisor of the institution, reaffirmed their commitment to supporting reforms ans capacity development in ensuring a sustainable Niger State Electricity Market.
