NSHA urges executive arm to intervene in relocation of Tafa LGA secretariat complex.

Niger State House of Assembly has called on the Executive Arm of government to as a matter of urgency intervene in relocating the secretariat complex of Tafa local government area, and provide office equipment that were destroyed by hoodlums during the #EndBadGovernance# protest recently.

This was contained in a press statement issued by the House through the Head of Media and Public Relations of the Assembly, Mal. Farouq Umar Isa.

The statement said that member representing Tafa Constituency, Hon. Muhammad Sani Idris, while presenting a motion on matter of urgent public importance brought at yesterday’s plenary informed his colleagues that Tafa Local Government Secretariat was built during the administration of the late Simeon Oduoye in 1997/98, unfortunately, this edifice was completely destroyed by hoodlums while hiding under the guise of the #EndBadGovernance# protest.

Hon. Sani Idris further explained that these miscreants did not only destroyed the building and cars parked at the premises of the Secretariat, but carted away desktops, tables, chairs, air conditioners, refrigerators and other valuables worth millions of Naira.

He added that all efforts, time and resources expended on the construction and provision of the office equipments for the local government secretariat went down the drain within an hour, because of the despicable acts of these miscreants, adding that the location of the secretariat on the Abuja-Kaduna expressway made it easily accessible by hoodlums who came in from neighboring communities.

According to the mover of the motion, there was an urgent need by the executive arm of government to take proactive security measures that would stem the tide of the people taking advantage of such situations to wreak havoc.

He further called on government to intervene and assist the people of the local government by reconstructing and replacing the destroyed or looted items at the secretariat and also relocate the Secretariat complex to a more secured site from the expressway before reconstruction of the Secretariat this will help in preventing possible repeat of this act.

At the end of his presentation and deliberations, the House unanimously adopted all the prayers of the motion as captured; the sitting was presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Afiniki Eunice Dauda.

Similarly, the House stood down a motion urging the Executive Arm of the state to relocate College of Education, Minna to Suleja, brought by Hon. Murtala Adamu Badaru.

The motion was unanimously stood down for another Legislative day.

The House has equally confirmed Alhaji Shu’aibu Etsu Guregi as Member of the Niger State House of Assembly Service Commission.

This followed presentation of the report of the House standing committee on House Services on the screening and Confirmation of the nominee for appointment as Commission Member, presented by the Committee Chairman, Hon Idris Musa Vatsa at plenary of the House.
