Niger State Announces Eligibility Criteria for Directors’ Leadership Re-Orientation and CBT
The Office of the Head of Service, Niger State, led by Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq Idris, has issued guidelines outlining the eligibility requirements and conditions for the upcoming Leadership Re-Orientation Programme and Computer-Based Test (CBT) for substantive Directors at Grade Level 17 within the State Civil Service.
In a circular dated 6th July 2026, addressed to the Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff, Clerk of the House of Assembly, Permanent Secretaries, and Heads of Agencies, the Head of Service mandated all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to promptly communicate these guidelines to eligible officers.
The circular specifies that only substantive Directors at Grade Level 17 who satisfy the outlined criteria will be considered for the training. Directors who participated in the July 2025 Retreat are ineligible, and nominations on their behalf will be canceled.
Eligibility conditions include being a substantive Director at Grade Level 17 in the Niger State Civil Service, having served at least two years in the role, and not being due for retirement before or on 31st December 2027. Additionally, candidates must have no pending disciplinary cases.
The Head of Service emphasized that the selection will be merit-based and highly competitive, involving a CBT, written exam, ICT proficiency assessment, and oral interview. Resource persons from both the civil/public service and private sector may be involved to ensure transparency and professionalism.
All concerned MDAs are urged to treat this directive as urgent and to nominate only qualified candidates for participation.
This leadership re-orientation initiative underscores the Niger State Government’s commitment to enhancing the capacity, professionalism, and efficiency of its senior civil servants in alignment with ongoing public service reforms.
