NUJ Appoints Dr. Abu Nmodu as Secretary for National Security Summit in Abuja
The National Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has named Dr. Abu Nmodu, the Niger State Chairman of the Union, as Secretary of the Organizing Committee for a two-day National Security Summit.
In a press release signed by Council Secretary Comrade Usman Mohammed Chiji, the NUJ announced that the summit will take place on Thursday, the 18th, and Friday, the 19th of this month in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
The summit’s theme is “Media and Security Agencies as Partners in Nation Building.” It aims to strengthen collaboration between the media and security agencies to enhance national stability and development.
Participants will address critical issues including responsible reporting of security operations and conflicts, access to credible information and official briefings, managing sensitive information without compromising operations, ensuring the safety of journalists covering security beats, countering disinformation, propaganda, hate speech, and fostering mutual trust and respect between journalists and security personnel.
A communiqué will be issued at the conclusion of the summit, outlining a framework of action to guide future engagement between media and security institutions.
