New Niger Corrections Controller Visits Security Agencies, Seeks Collaboration
The newly appointed Niger State Controller of Corrections, CC Ogunleye Seyi Oladipupo, has begun a series of courtesy visits to leaders of security and law enforcement agencies in Niger State to promote collaboration and enhance the safety of detention facilities, as well as the effective administration of criminal justice.
According to a press statement issued by CSC Rabiu Mohammed Shuaibu, CPRO, and shared with journalists in Minna, the visits, which began on May 4, 2026, included agencies such as the Department of State Security Services, the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Nigeria Immigration Service, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), the Nigeria Army’s 31 Artillery Brigade, and the Nigeria Customs Service.
During these meetings, CC Ogunleye conveyed the goodwill of the Controller General of Corrections, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, MFR, mni, emphasizing that national security is a collective effort.
“Security is a shared responsibility. The Nigerian Correctional Service depends on strong partnerships with sister agencies for intelligence sharing, quick response, and the safe, humane transportation of inmates to courts. These visits reaffirm our commitment to partnership and seek your continued support in protecting custodial centers across Niger State,” he stated.
The leaders of the respective agencies praised the Controller for initiating the visits and committed to strengthening cooperation with the NCoS. They acknowledged that recent security stability in Niger State is the result of joint efforts and assured the NCoS of prompt intelligence sharing, enhanced security, and emergency response support.
CC Ogunleye Seyi Oladipupo was accompanied by the Officer in Charge of the Medium Security Custodial Center, Minna Old, CSC Operations, Squadron Commander of the Armed Squad Unit, Protocol Officer, and Public Relations Officer II.
The Nigerian Correctional Service, Niger State, reiterated its dedication to maintaining secure, humane, and lawful detention of all persons in custody, in line with the NCoS Act 2019 and international best practices.
