Genocide in Bashar District of Wase LGA , leadership of ALGON remains silent without support

By Yakubu Busari

The People of Bashar District of Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State have decried of incessant attacks  with continued killings and displacement of natives by unknown gunmen .

However, the alleged abandoned in webs of this crisis by the leadership of current ALGON  Executive Chairman as the  situation is getting worse .

It’s was gathered that, how Bashar District are facing insecurity without the support of the council  as they are lamenting that the motive behind  the establishment of a security committee by the executive chairman , Hon.  Hamisu Anani is defeated .

According to Adamu Adamu who convened a  stakeholders meeting stressing that  over three years, Bashar people have  endured an existential threat posed by insecurity.

Communities have lived in constant fear of the unknown—sleepless nights became the norm, homes were abandoned, businesses destroyed, and farmlands left deserted. Families were forced to flee their ancestral homes, becoming refugees in unfamiliar lands.

At the peak of this crisis, life itself became almost meaningless for many.

Sadly, during these trying times, the leadership of Wase Local Government under Hamisu Anani appeared absent, offering little or no practical support to confront the devastating situation that plagued Bashar District.

Relief, however, came through one man who refused to turn his back on his people—Ahmed Idris Wase. He stood firm and took decisive action, deploying his personal resources and leveraging his connections to facilitate the establishment of a military base, a DSS camp, and the deployment of various security operatives. He also provided critical logistical support to local vigilante groups. These efforts significantly contributed to turning the tide against bandits and criminal elements across the district.

Remarkably, just as security operatives began recording tangible successes—raiding criminal hideouts, dismantling networks, and restoring a measure of peace—the Local Government Council hastily inaugurated a security committee yesterday. This sudden move raises serious concerns, as it appears designed to create a misleading impression that the committee is responsible for the recent victories achieved.

It is important to ask the Local Government leadership under Hamisu Anani these two questions:

1. Why was this security committee only established after significant victories had already been recorded?

2. Have they ever provided any meaningful logistical support to security operatives during the height of the crisis in Bashar District?

Wake-up call!

The people of Wase Local Government must remain vigilant. There is a need to closely monitor the activities of this newly formed security committee to ensure it does not become a conduit for mismanagement or diversion of public funds under the guise of security intervention.

History will always remember those who stood with the people in their darkest hour—not those who appeared only when the battle was nearly won.

In all of this, one name continues to stand tall—firm, resolute, and committed to the safety and well-being of his people, and that is none but Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase
