Breaking: Obidient Movement Raises Alarm Over Attack on Peter Obi in Benin
The National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Yunusa Tanko, has raised concerns following reports of an attack on former presidential candidate Peter Obi and his supporters in Benin, Edo State.
Tanko stated that armed thugs shot at Obi and members of the movement during the official defection of Olumide Akpata to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Benin City.
In a brief statement titled “Breaking Red Alert in Benin, Edo State,” Tanko indicated that PO and ADC leadership were under siege in Benin.
He reported that, during Akpata’s formal declaration into the ADC, armed individuals tracked them from the party’s secretariat to Chief John Odigie-Oyegun’s residence.
He also alleged that the assailants fired at the gate and damaged several vehicles, describing the incident as a potentially successful attempt on their lives and warning that democracy is under threat.
