First Lady Donates 50 Buses,30 Tricycles to Enhance Transportation at OAU

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has donated 50 buses and 30 tricycles to Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, as part of a strategic effort to address transportation challenges within the university campus.

The donation includes CNG-powered buses intended to enhance mobility for students, staff, and visitors while promoting environmentally friendly and cost-efficient transportation options.

During the unveiling and commissioning ceremony, representatives of the First Lady emphasized that this initiative reflects her dedication to supporting education, alleviating welfare burdens on students, and fostering improved learning environments in tertiary institutions.

The Vice-Chancellor of OAU, Professor Simeon Bamire, expressed gratitude to Mrs. Tinubu, noting that the provision of transportation assets is timely and will significantly reduce delays, overcrowding, and transportation expenses on campus.

Students’ Union leaders also commended the intervention, acknowledging that transportation issues have historically impacted lecture attendance and campus life. They described the donation as a positive development that will support academic and social activities.

The event was attended by prominent figures, including the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and the Osun State First Lady, who praised Mrs. Tinubu for her ongoing support of education and youth empowerment.

This donation fulfills a prior pledge by the First Lady and underscores her commitment to sustainable development, educational progress, and improved welfare across Nigeria’s institutions.
