Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago Attends High-Level PGF Meeting
Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago was among the progressive governors participating in a high-level meeting convened by the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF).
The Chairman of the PGF, who concurrently serves as Imo State Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, presided over the closed-door session held at the Imo State liaison office in Abuja, with leadership representatives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in attendance.
Briefing journalists afterward, Sen. Uzodimma emphasized that the Forum reaffirmed its dedication to strengthening internal democracy, reinforcing party structures, and promoting reforms that ensure transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness across all levels of the APC within the federation.
He noted the Forum’s review and endorsement of the proposed timetable and institutional framework approved by the APC’s National Executive Council for upcoming ward, local government, state, and zonal congresses, as well as the national party convention.
Sen. Uzodimma also highlighted the importance of transparent and coordinated financial management during congresses and conventions to uphold fairness and accountability across all states.
The Forum commended the ongoing APC membership e-registration initiative, stating it will support data-driven planning, improve demographic insights, and enhance grassroots engagement nationwide.
Furthermore, the PGF formally welcomed the governors of Taraba and Plateau states into the forum and reiterated its commitment to collaborate with the APC leadership to promote national development, democratic consolidation, and people-centered governance.
The Chairman announced upcoming strategic engagements and state visits, beginning with Taraba State, aimed at strengthening grassroots structures, party cohesion, and progressive governance.
He reaffirmed the forum’s unwavering dedication to party unity, emphasizing responsible leadership communication and collective discipline to bolster public confidence in the party’s democratic processes.
Sen. Uzodimma concluded by expressing gratitude to the APC National leadership for their constructive participation and declared the Forum’s commitment to working closely with the party to ensure a credible, transparent, and unifying congress and convention, supporting Nigeria’s democratic advancement.
