Former Army Chief Buratai Institutes ₦1 Billion Defamation Suit Against Maj. Gen. Ali-Keffi
Retired Army Chief Yusuf Buratai has initiated a ₦1 billion defamation lawsuit against retired senior military officer Maj. Gen. Danjuma Hamisu Ali-Keffi in the Kaduna State High Court.
The case, filed on January 8, 2026, at the Kaduna Judicial Division, alleges that Ali-Keffi made and circulated false, malicious, and defamatory statements linking Buratai to terrorism financing, Boko Haram suspects, and the illegal release and concealment of terror suspects during his tenure.
Through legal representatives A.I. Aliyu and A.M. Hassan of Law Plus Consult, Buratai seeks declarations that the statements published on platforms, including Sahara Reporters, are defamatory and damaging to his reputation.
