NBA Minna Branch Condemns Bandit and Terrorist Attacks in Borgu, Agwarra in Niger State
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Minna Branch has issued a strong condemnation of the recent coordinated assaults by bandits and terrorists targeting communities in Borgu and Agwara Local Government Areas of Niger State.
These violent acts, which have resulted in numerous fatalities and the abduction of many including women and children, are barbaric, inhumane, and unacceptable within any civilized society.
Isyaku Barau, Esq., MCArb., Chairman of the NBA Minna Branch, stated in a press release that the deliberate targeting of rural communities, educational institutions, and vulnerable populations highlights a troubling rise in criminal activity. Such actions undermine the constitutional rights to life, liberty, and human dignity.
The NBA Minna Branch expresses its sympathies to the affected communities and extends sincere condolences to the families of the victims. We pray for the repose of the souls lost and for comfort to their loved ones.
We urge the Niger State government, the Federal Government, and security agencies to undertake immediate, coordinated, and sustained efforts to rescue those abducted and to eradicate the menace of banditry and terrorism in Niger State and beyond.
Safeguarding lives and property remains the primary duty of government, and the public demands effective action, not merely words.
Furthermore, we call on citizens, community leaders, and stakeholders to unite against these criminal elements. Collective vigilance, cooperation with authorities, and sharing credible intelligence are vital.
