INEC Extends Deadline for Candidate List Submission by Political Parties

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has approved an extension of the deadline for political parties to submit their candidate lists for the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly Elections.

According to a statement by INEC National Commissioner for Information and Voter Education, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, the deadline in the Revised Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2027 General Election, originally set for Saturday, July 11, 2026, has been extended to midnight on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.

The decision to extend the deadline was made after an appeal from the Inter-Party Advisory Council, on behalf of political parties that were unable to upload their candidates’ names and details within the original timeframe.

The Commission urges all political parties to take advantage of this extension and ensure that all necessary information is uploaded before the new deadline expires.
