President Bola Tinubu Commends Niger State Governor for Women’s Appointments, Highlights Democratic Progress

President Bola Tinubu has publicly praised Niger State Governor Alhaji Mohammed Umaru Bago for his decision to appoint women as Vice Chairpersons of all 25 Local Government Councils within the state. During the 15th National Executive Committee meeting of the All Progressives Congress at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja, the President expressed his strong support for this initiative.
Governor Bago, recognized for his dedication to agricultural development, was among the APC governors and key party stakeholders present at the gathering. President Tinubu described the governor’s decision as highly commendable and called on others to follow suit by promoting female representation in governance.
He emphasized the importance of resilience among APC members to bolster Nigeria’s democracy, advocating for courage, resilience, and inclusiveness within the party.
The President also reiterated his backing of the proposed State Police initiative, urging the National Assembly to consult with the Inspector General of Police on its implementation and oversight. Furthermore, he proposed the creation of forest green guards aimed at strengthening efforts against terrorism and banditry.
Vice President Kashim Shettina, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas separately lauded President Tinubu’s leadership in safeguarding democracy and implementing reforms to shape Nigeria’s future. They reaffirmed their support for his vision of national transformation.
The APC National Executive Committee, the party’s highest decision-making body between conventions, comprises the President, Vice President, national chairman, members of the National Working Committee, governors, and other key stakeholders. It oversees party administration, policy decisions, and election preparations.
