WPRF-Abuja 2026: Etsu Nupe Becomes Royal Ambassador
In a significant development for the world’s largest public relations event, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, CFR, the Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, has accepted the role of Royal Ambassador for the World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) in Abuja, scheduled for 2026.
The esteemed traditional ruler, who also serves as the Coordinating Chairman of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria, expressed his enthusiasm for this partnership with the traditional institution. He described it as a strategic opportunity to showcase Nigeria’s cultural heritage on the global stage.
“Bringing the entire world to Nigeria is no small task; it is a significant responsibility that requires support from everyone,” Alhaji Abubakar stated. “I am committed to doing everything I can to ensure the success of this event when it takes place in November 2026.”
This commitment was announced during a visit by senior members of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) to the traditional ruler’s residence. The delegation, led by NIPR President and Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr. Ike Neliaku, expressed gratitude for Alhaji Abubakar’s support during the recent national unveiling of WPRF 2026 in Abuja.
Dr. Neliaku commended the traditional ruler for his character and community impact, noting his widespread appeal across various sectors of society. “We have traveled across this country and met many people over the years. When we encounter individuals who value humanity and strive to make a positive difference, we celebrate them. That is one of the main reasons we are here today—to appreciate you for who you are and what you represent,” he said.
The NIPR delegation included several distinguished members who took the time to acknowledge the traditional leader’s partnership. Among them were HRH Dr. Tayo Hatsrup, former Council Member; Dr. Suleiman Haruna, Chairman of WPRF Abuja 2026; Council Members Ahmad Sajoh and Olubunmi Badejo; Prof. Okay Ikechukwu; Alhaji Kudu Abubakar; and Dr. Ebere Emeribe.
The World Public Relations Forum is expected to attract communications professionals and cultural ambassadors from around the globe, providing a platform for Nigeria to showcase its traditions and strengthen international relationships.
