Niger State Pension Board Presents it’s Proposed Budget for fiscal year 2026.
The Niger State Pension Board presented its proposed budget for 2026 to the Niger State Planning Commission at the Women Multipurpose Hall, Old Secretariat, Minna.
The presentation was attended by various government officials, including representatives from the Bureau of Statistics, the Head of Service, and members of the State Planning Commission, headed by Permanent Secretary Hajiya Aishatu Usman.
During the presentation, it was emphasized that this exercise is an annual routine for various ministries, departments, and agencies as they prepare for the upcoming year.
The goal is to ensure that all requirements are completed before the final presentation.
The management and staff of the Pension Board, led by Mallam Habib Abdulkadir, the Permanent Secretary, presented the budget.
After reviewing the budget, the screening committee raised several observations. These included issues regarding the staff list from both the state and local government, as well as the non-submission of monthly expenditure records from January to August.
In response, the Permanent Secretary noted that approximately ₦5 billion had been paid out as pension from the ₦9.1 billion budgeted for the year from January to August. .
He assured that pension payments were up to date, except for those still undergoing biometric capture, as the number of retirees was increasing monthly and required estimation.
He also mentioned that the number of deceased pensioners was minimal, thanks to the “I Am Alive” verification exercise, which helped identify deceased beneficiaries.
Additional allocations in the budget included funds for renovating the board’s complex and purchasing new equipment.
The Permanent Secretary of the Planning Commission expressed gratitude to the Pension Board for the presentation and stated that corrected documents would be provided.
She also directed the board to submit a record of its achievements for the outgoing year, 2025.
