Army Applauds Citizens’ Mission as Peace Group Visits Nigerian Army Museum

CFPFAMN pledges stronger partnership on civil-military cooperation, disaster response, and community resilience

By . Shuaibu Sambo Abuja.

As part of its 2025 training calendar, the Citizens for Peace and First Aid Mission of Nigeria (CFPFAMN) has paid a training visit to the Nigerian Army Museum in Abuja on September 15, 2025.

The visit, facilitated by the Commander General of the organization, Colonel Igwe Ibila Amara (Rtd), was led by Core Brigadier General Ambassador Abdulrazak Shaibu Adenomo, the Commandant of the FCT Command.

The team was warmly received by Brigadier General S.I. Said, Director of the Nigerian Army Museum, alongside Consultant Brigadier General O.L. Olokor.

Speaking during the visit, Ambassador Adenomo, on behalf of Col. Amara, emphasized the importance of fostering Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) as a tool for strengthening national security and community resilience.

“Civil-military relationship is vital for nation-building,” he stated. “This partnership between our organization and the Nigerian Army creates a synergy that supports peacebuilding, emergency response, and national security management.”

The training tour exposed members of the organization to the evolution of the Nigerian Army, its constitutional mandate to safeguard national integrity, and its participation in peace support operations both at home and abroad.

The exhibits also highlighted the supreme sacrifices of officers and soldiers in the line of duty.

In his remarks, Brigadier General S.I. Said commended CFPFAMN for its dedication to peace and humanitarian service, noting that such collaborations strengthen the Army’s ability to discharge its constitutional duties effectively. “We deeply appreciate the efforts and consistent approach of Citizens for Peace and First Aid Mission of Nigeria,” Gen. Said stated.

“Your role in partnering with the Army is not only improving civil-military cooperation but also enhancing the Army’s ability to achieve its mission successfully.”

In a vote of thanks, Ambassador Adenomo lauded the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, for prioritizing the welfare of troops and establishing the Army Museum as a hub of knowledge and history. He added that the visit had opened new areas of collaboration between the Army and CFPFAMN in peacebuilding, community resilience, and emergency management training.

Colonel Igwe Amara, in a special message delivered through the team leader, further called on other civil organizations across Nigeria to emulate the initiative of cooperating with the military.

*The fight against insecurity, disasters such as flooding, and emergencies like accidents requires strong partnerships,” Amara noted. “We encourage other civil organizations to join hands with the Nigerian military in strengthening civil-military cooperation to safeguard and protect our communities.”

He also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all security chiefs for their continued support to the Nigerian Armed Forces.

The visit marks a significant step in CFPFAMN’s ongoing mission to foster peace and ensure emergency response readiness across Nigeria.
