Two Suspected Assassins Arrested with Improvised Firearm in Beji.
A police patrol unit, in collaboration with local vigilante members, arrested two suspected assassins identified as Muhammad Mohammed and Mohammed Usman near the railway crossing in the Beji area of Bosso Local Government Area of Niger State.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the Niger Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, the suspects were apprehended during a routine search operation. Law enforcement authorities recovered a locally made pistol, a live cartridge, and thirteen thousand naira in cash from them.
During subsequent interrogation, both suspects confessed that they had been hired by an individual named Dogo, also from Beji, to carry out an assassination.
They revealed that they were on their way to meet Dogo to collect a service fee of one hundred thousand naira for the planned act.
The suspects indicated that Dogo had initially provided them with thirteen thousand naira for transportation expenses and that they had requested a larger fee for the assignment to be secured prior to proceeding with the act.
Initial investigations suggest that Dogo’s motive for hiring the suspects may be rooted in a personal grievance, as he allegedly sought to eliminate a man who had married his ex-wife.
Following their arrest, the suspects were placed in police custody at the Maikunkele Division for further investigation before being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a comprehensive investigation and potential prosecution.
Authorities are actively working to locate Dogo, who is currently at large.
