ICPC Reaffirms Commitment to Combat Corruption During NUJ Courtesy Visit.

The Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Mr. Kennedy Ebhotemen, has reiterated the Commission’s unwavering commitment to the fight against corruption.
His remarks were made during a recent courtesy visit by the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Niger State Council at his office in Minna.
During the meeting, Mr. Ebhotemen revealed that the ICPC is actively prosecuting six cases in court under its Constituency Project Tracking Initiative.
He highlighted the critical role of credible information in combating corruption, urging citizens to submit petitions and assuring them that such communications would be treated confidentially in accordance with the Commission’s secrecy laws.
“We have six cases of corruption in court, thanks to the numerous petitions we’ve received. I encourage the public to continue sending genuine information and petitions, which will be handled with the utmost confidentiality,” he stated.
Mr. Ebhotemen also underscored the importance of fostering stronger collaboration between the ICPC and the NUJ, emphasizing that journalists play a vital role in the ongoing battle against corruption in Nigeria.
Comrade Abu Nmodu, Chairman of the NUJ Niger State Council, expressed that the purpose of the visit was to explore potential collaborations between the two entities.
He requested the Commission’s support in providing media coverage for its activities and proposed the implementation of a training program for journalists, similar to those conducted by the Commission’s headquarters, to enhance the existing synergy between the ICPC and the NUJ.
