Kogi Police Make Significant Arrests in Crackdown on Crime.

The Kogi Command of the Nigerian Police Force has announced the arrest of 75 individuals suspected of kidnapping, along with 66 armed robbery suspects and a total of 141 others implicated in various criminal activities across the state.
This information was disclosed by Commissioner of Police Miller Dantawaye during his inaugural press briefing held in Lokoja on Tuesday. Since February, Kogi Police has apprehended a total of 239 suspects for a range of offenses.
Among those arrested, 66 were implicated in armed robbery, while 75 were suspected of kidnapping. Additionally, the arrests include 18 for homicide, 21 for unlawful possession of firearms, four for rape, six for cult-related activities, and 49 for other crimes.
CP Dantawaye presented the recovered evidence from these operations, which included an impressive arsenal: five AK-47 rifles, two AK-49 rifles, nine magazines, and a substantial cache of ammunition, among other items.
A notable recovery included a green Sharon vehicle, involved in a rapid police chase, which the driver abandoned.
The commissioner highlighted the impact of intelligence-led policing and collaboration with community stakeholders in achieving these results, stressing the importance of information sharing in the fight against crime.
The police command is actively training personnel to enhance their capabilities and has implemented comprehensive strategies for crime prevention and control, including increased patrols and targeted raids.
Dantawaye called upon residents to support the police by providing timely and credible information to strengthen efforts against criminal activities in Kogi.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, ensuring that the resolve to combat crime remains steadfast.
