Farmer Governor Umaru Bago Receives Award for being most Pensioners friendly Governor by the Nigerian Union of Pensioners.

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, affectionately known as the “farmer Governor,” has been awarded the title of “Most Pensioners-Friendly Governor” by the Nigeria Union of Pensioners.
The award was presented during the 12th Quadrennial National Delegates Conference of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, held at the Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano State.
Governor Bago dedicated this award to all pensioners across the country and expressed his gratitude to the organizers for recognizing his efforts in supporting senior citizens who have made significant contributions to the nation.
He emphasized the need for substantial improvements in pension administration, not only in Niger State but throughout Nigeria.
He stated that this award would motivate him to continue prioritizing the welfare of pensioners.
The Governor also proposed better methods for disbursing pensions that are less cumbersome and stressed the importance of prioritizing agriculture for self-sufficiency.
He announced plans for his administration to establish a demonstration farm for the Nigeria Union of Pensioners. Additionally, he pledged a donation of N100 million to support the union’s activities.
In separate remarks, Mazi Godwin Abumisi, the National President of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, and Elder Actor Zal, the Union’s General Secretary, commended Governor Bago for his unwavering commitment to improving the lives of pensioners, which ultimately earned him the award.
Representatives from the Ministry of Labour and Employment and the Head of Civil Service of the Federation acknowledged the significant efforts made by Governor Bago and his colleagues to ensure that pensioners are not overlooked.
Other governors honored with awards from the Nigeria Union of Pensioners included Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, Umar Namadi of Jigawa State, Caleb Muftwang of Plateau State, and Ademola Adeleke of Osun State.
