Infrastructure Overhaul in Niger State: Residents Urged to Endure Short-Term Inconveniences.
An earnest and heartfelt plea has been directed toward the residents of Niger State, urging them to remain patient and understanding amidst the ongoing challenges posed by a severe shortage of potable water and the frequent, unreliable power supply issues currently being experienced within the state.
The Niger State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Hon. Suleiman Umar, issued the appeal, attributing the shortages in water and power supply to the ongoing urban renewal project initiated by Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago.
He explained that the current relocation of water pipes, along with the repositioning of power lines, has temporarily disrupted the steady flow of both water and electricity supplies. However, he reassured everyone that this inconvenience is only a temporary situation.
In the long run, residents and citizens will find themselves not only happy and satisfied but also deeply appreciative of the efforts and decisions made by the government under the leadership of Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago.
He said , for decades now there has not been any major urban planning review and witnessing massive developmental projects like the ongoing,explaining that urban renewal extends far beyond the mere construction of roads; it involves a comprehensive enhancement of essential social amenities.
This includes the provision of clean, potable water, a reliable supply of electricity, access to quality medical facilities, availability of nutritious food, and adequate security measures. These elements are crucial to improving the quality of life for the community, ensuring that the well-being and safety of citizens are prioritized in the development process.
“I urge the esteemed citizens of Niger State to remain patient and understanding as we undertake the critical task of relocating water pipes and power lines.
This effort is essential to accommodate the planned road expansions, which will not only improve transportation but also involve the replacement of old water pipes and outdated power lines with newer, more efficient ones.
Meanwhile, to alleviate any inconvenience caused by temporary water shortages, the Governor of Niger State, Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, who was represented by his Deputy, Comrade Yakubu Garba while on the spot assessment visit to Minna Water works has instructed the Niger State Water to collaborate with the major contractors such as CCECC construction companies to provide water to the affected communities. This measure is intended to serve as a temporary relief, ensuring that residents have access to water during this transitional period.
