Zamfara governor, others, pays condolences visit to Niger deputy governor over wife’s death
Zamfara state Governor, Dauda Lawal and other high profile dignitaries on Thursday paid condolences visit to Niger state Deputy Governor, comrade Yakubu Garba, over the death of his wife, Hajiya Zainab Garba.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the deceased died on Tuesday, July 2, during a illness at the age of 39, leaving behind her husband and two children.
Lawal, who was represented by his brother, Suleiman Lawal, said the visit was to sympathise with Niger government and the people of the state over the demise of Zainab and offer prayers for her soul.
Also, Mrs Olayinka Abdulwahab, Coordinator of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) in Niger, paid a condolences visit on behalf of the management and staff of the scheme.
She said NYSC feel the pain of the deputy governor and pray to Almighty Allah to strengthen him and people of the state to bear the loss.
Also, Alhaji Isah Kantigi, Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2023 General election, also paid condolences visit to the deputy governor.
Kantigi, represented by Abdullahi Kwatu, encouraged the deputy governor to accept the death of his wife as Allah’s will who gives life and takes it and prayed Allah to give peace to the deceased soul.
Similarly, former Sen. Zainab Kure, said death was inevitable and advised the deputy governor to see the loss of his wife as an act of God, adding that she has experienced the pain that comes with losing a partner.
Also Alhaji Hussaini Yusuf, former National President of Miyetiti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, led members of the association to pay a condolences visit on the deputy governor.
In the same vein, Pastor Gabriel Aboderin, Regional Supredentent of Christ Apostolic Church in Nigeria and overseas, led a delegation on a condolences visit to Niger government.
He said CAC as a community in the state has enjoyed patronage from Niger government by ensuring unity of people irrespective of religious background.
NAN reports that among those who also paid condolences visit were members of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), zone B, forum, district head of Gawu Babangida, Musa Sarki and former Sen. Isah Mohammed.
Others were Mrs Hauwa Zakariya, the state Federal Controller, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment and members of Chanchaga local government area led by the chairman, Aminu Ladan.
Responding, Alhaji Abubakar Usman, Secretary to the Niger Government, who received the visitors on behalf of Gov. Umaru Bago, who is the chief mourner, appreciated various delegations on the visit.
He extended the governor’s apology to the various delegations who had traveled to Ilorin for an official assignment, adding that the state has been thrown into a moment of grieve.
