An Open letter to the Farmer Governor Umar Bago by the Nigeria Union of Pensioners on Pensioners entitlements.
The Nigeria Union of Pensioners NUP has expressed appreciation to the Farmer Governor Muhammad Umar Bago for the prompt payment of monthly pension to its members, while appealing to him to as matter of concern placed monthly Pension allowance on first line charge by the government.
In a passionate appeal letter addressed to the Farmer Governor Muhammed Umar Bago by the General Secretary of the Union, Elder Actor Zal request him to pay Pensioners their outstanding accumulated pension arrears and gratuities inherited from the past administration in the state.
The letter also reads, ‘ I urged the farmer Governor in view of the foregoing to kindly beam a bright light on the plight of pensioners in the state and pay them their legally owed entitlements’.
In a separate letter written to the Governor dated15/March/2024 by the Nigeria Union of pensioners, Niger State council and signed by the State Secretary, Comrade Abdullahi Baba Sani , informed the Farmer Governor Umar Bago that Pensioners are really suffering and appeal to him to do the needful by addressing their plights.
The letter informed the Governor to addresses some critical areas which includes gratuity, consquential adjustment of pension,according to the letter, since 2019 when federal government approved the adjustment, Niger state government has not implemented it.
He further called for the harmonization of monthly pension and the settlement of Contributory Pension adding that many pensioners have died without accessing their entitlements.
The Nigeria Union of Pensioners then appeal to the senior citizens in the state to cooperate and show understanding as the Union pursue their legitimate entitlements with the state government.
