Governor Umaru Bago Confirms Deputy Yakubu Garba as Running Mate for 2027 Governorship Race
Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has officially announced that his deputy, Comrade Yakubu Garba, will be his running mate for the upcoming 2027 governorship election.
He revealed this decision during an extraordinary session of the State government, held at the Council Chamber of the Government House in Minna.
During the meeting, Governor Umaru Bago emphasized his commitment to inclusive governance that reflects the State’s diverse character.
He urged citizens to promote peace and avoid actions that could destabilize the state amid various challenges.
Addressing ongoing agitations, he affirmed that such aspirations are valid and that citizens have the right to seek representation based on clan, religion, tribe, zone, or district.
The governor reiterated his dedication to democratic principles, encouraging local government stakeholders with vacant positions to submit nominations promptly to enable necessary appointments.
He also expressed gratitude to the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Abdulmalik Sarkin Daji, and all members for their unwavering support during this process, noting the remarkable unity within the Assembly and the cabinet regarding the deputy governor’s selection.
Additionally, he commended the State APC party for its leadership and support in ensuring electoral success.
The event concluded with the formal signing and presentation of the nomination form to Deputy Governor Yakubu Garba.
