Gov. Bago Committed to New Niger Agenda – Dep Gov. Yakubu Garba
Niger State Deputy Governor Comrade Yakubu Garba has stressed that Governor Farmer Muhammad Umar Bago is committed to the “New Niger” agenda.
In a press statement, issued and signed by the press secretary to the Deputy Governor Ummikhaltume Abdullahi kuta,the Deputy Governor emphasized this in the 2024 New Year message, by re-echoing the policy administration mantra of the present government, saying it is geared towards the enthronement of a new and sustainable Niger that is full of opportunities for all.
The Deputy Governor noted that maintaining a harmonious working relationship with other arms of government under Governor Bago’s administration remains very critical. The administration will continue to strengthen the existing synergy and collaborations between the Executive and Legislative Arms of Government, which will invariably position the state on the path of sustainable growth and development.
Deputy Governor Yakubu Garba added that the immediate needs of the state will serve as the road map for a visionary journey towards the New Niger as embodied in Niger State Future Initiative and contained in Governor’s manifesto.
The Deputy Governor said in a quest for a “New and Sustainable Niger,” growing the State’s economy as well as improving the revenue base of the State remains indispensable.
Deputy Governor Yakubu Garba points out that Niger State will be re-positioned for enhanced service delivery and environmental management that conserve nature for the sake of the future generation, noting that the present administration has demonstrated its commitment by convening the Green Economy Summit where environmental issues were discussed, resulting into Niger State Green Economy Blueprint that was developed and launched recently.
The New Year press statement by the Deputy Governor further posited that part of the efforts to maximize the benefits of mineral endowments by the State Government, the present administration will continue to seek support and partnerships in artisanal mining to boost the State’s internal revenue drive. Adding that the recently established international gold market is a deliberate attempt to further enhance the opportunities for gold mining in the State by evolving the economy into a “NEW and SUSTAINABLE NIGER.”
