Jawon Minna Commends U-19 Badminton team for Successful international Outing.
The successful outing of the state under 19 Badminton team at the 2023 Benin Republic international junior under 19 championship has been attributed to the determination and resilience of the players and the technical crew to make Niger State and Nigeria proud.
The Chairman of the state Badminton association and Jawon Minna,Alhaji Mohammed Nma Kolo stated this while congratulating the team for their commendable performance at the tournament.
Alhaji Nma Kolo who is also the Special Adviser to the Niger State Governor on Political matters, said that, despite the challenges faced by the team in preparation and participation in the championship, the team remained focused and determined to perform credibly, which paid off with the brilliant achievement.
He therefore called on the Niger State government and the sports loving Governor, Umar Mohammed Bago, as well as all lovers of Badminton to assist and support the team to bring more recognition and laurels to the state and Nigeria..
He opined that the state should in honour of the medalists, offer them scholarship to enable them further their education.
He emphasized that sports is a veritable platform to check youth restiveness,unemployment and crime among youths and should be accorded top priority of government.
The Chairman of the State badminton association noted that,their participation in the event gave the players the opportunity to sharpen their skills, and exposed them to different and new techniques of the game which will make them a better team for future competitions.
Samuel Aderinola won one Gold in the Singles and Doubles category,while Aliyu Saidu also won one Gold in Doubles category and Silver in the Doubles category.
At the end of the championship,the Niger state team emerged the overall first position after victories over representatives from Benin Republic,Togo,Burkina Faso,Egypt and Ivory Coast winning, Two Gold and One Silver Medals at the championship.
