NIGER STATE NUP INAUGURATES WOMEN COMMITTEE WING IN MINNA.
Nigeria union of Pensioners, Gender committee executives Niger State council have been inaugurated with a call on them to abide by the Union constitution .
In his address, the General Secretary of the Nigeria union of pensioners National Headquarters,Elder Actor Zal who was represented by Comrade Nkiruka Ofodile at the inauguration ceremony that took place in the Secretariat of Nigeria union of pensioners Minna,called on the members of the Women Committee to cooperate with the State Executive of NUP for effective growth and development of Women pensioners in the state.
He commend the state council of Nigeria union of pensioners for taken right step by instituting Women wing, adding that this would give a sense of belonging to women members and further strengthen them to work harder for the growth and development of the Union in the state.
He then stressed that the tenure of the elected executives would be four years and after completing their first term,any of the elected officer’s can contest for the second term as laid down in the constitution.
Earlier in his speech the State Chairman of Nigeria union of pensioners Comrade Ishaku Ndagi appeals to the elected executives to carry all women members along.
He called on tham to initiate programmes especially in the area of skills acquisition to enable members acquire skills and have access to loan.
In his speech at the Inaugural ceremony, Muhammad Aliyu Madugu , Chairman, Executive committee Association of Retired Head of Service and Permanent Secretaries called on the newly inaugurated Executives to identify source of loans and economic empowerment agencies,so that they can explore for their members.
He tasked them to facilitate and ensure the, enrollment of members into vocational skills acquisition trainings and liase with the Union to stand as guarantor for the female members to access loan .
Madugu then called on them to closely collaborate with the office of the first Lady of Niger state in order for the members to be carried along in the activities of Her Excellency and to also maintain close relationship with the Ministry of Women Affair’s.
The elected Chairperson Mrs Lami R Makun in her speech immidiately after their inauguration promise to carry all members along and to work harmoniously with Nigeria union of pensioners state council for the development and empowerment of Women pesioners.
Mrs Makun thanked members for finding her worthy for the position and assures, she will do everything possible to ensure that members acquire skills that will make them less dependant in their husbands.
The Chairperson gave assurance that she will esterblish same Women Committee in all the 25 local government area of the State so that members in the rural area benefits from programmes they will initiate and to also enable them have access to loan.
