The newly sworn inn governor of Niger State,Rt.Hon.Umar Mohammed Bago has declared basic education free and compulsory across the state.
Umar Bago made the pronouncement shortly after he was administered Oath of office and alliagence by the Chief Judge,Justice Halima Ibrahim Abdulmalik,held at trade fair complex, Minna.
He disclosed that all the citizens of the state irrespective of ethnic and state of origin will benefit from the free education policy,urging parents and guardians to enroll their children to school.
The governor emphasized that his administration would pay adequate attention to the development of secondary education,especially vocational,science and technology, assuring that education will be made centre pace of his developmental agender.
“His words,”The administration educational policy will focus on revamping the sector so as to provide qualitative, affordable and acceptable education,with special interest in girl child,he also noted that the tertiary education will be repositioned”
Rt.Hon.Mohammed Bago maintained that the security will be given premium attention by his administration,pointing out that he will collaborate with all relevant agencies,both at the national and international level to tackle the insecurity bediliviling the state so as to protect life and property of the citizens.
Bago stressed that he will create an enably environment for everyone in the state to feel the positive impact of government policies and programmes ,promising that transparency,,accountability and physical discipline would be the watch word of his government.
He further stated that agriculture and tourism will be reawakened in order to attract investors and improve the economic growth of the state.
The Governor however reiterated that youths and women would form 90% of his cabinet,which will be all inclusive.
He thanked Niger lites for their enthusiasm for APC before,during and after the general elections,appealing for more support and cooperation to enable him record remarkable achievement.
