Kebbi State celebrate NYSC scheme at 50.

The Kebbi State Coordinator of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Mrs Okolo Agatha Banki has urge all the serving Corps members to emulate their predecessors in the areas of Community Development, Medical and Health care services, Education, Agriculture, Environmental Sanitation.
He made this called yesterday while on the unity walk Commemorating NYSC at 50 years anniversary of the scheme also commended them on the recent participation in conducting credible elections, and also they make sure that their names as been writing in the annals of history as good ambassadors of the Scheme.
” gentleman, be disciplined in your conduct, embrace dignity of labour, adhere strictly to instructions and avoid all forms of negative youthful exuberance” she said.
She stated further that NYSC was established by Gen. Yakubu Gowon the then Head of State, on the 22nd May 1973 to rehabilitate, reconstruct and reconcile our dear nation, after the Civil War.
The Schemes objectives include; developing common ties among the Nigerian youths and promoting national unity and integration, to ensure Nigerian youths, are exposed to the modes of living of the people in different parts of Nigeria, that Nigerian youths are encouraged to eschew religious intolerance by accommodating religious differences, remove prejudices, eliminate ignorance and confirm at first hand the many similarities among Nigerians of all ethnic groups among other objectives.
“My Dear Children, as we participate in this unity walk, let us remember the efforts of our founding fathers and see how best we could contribute our quota to sustain the Scheme in the years to come by keeping it visible” she added.
Mrs Banki described NYSC scheme as the scheme that remains one of the most reputable Institution in West Africa, mobilizing and equipping young graduates for national development. and equipping them with the
with the necessary skills for self-reliance.
“the Management of the NYSC put together a week-long activities and Programmes which begins with today’s unity walk. These programmes are meant to bring to the fore the achievements of the Scheme over the years” she explained.
