APC Senatorial aspirant Gyang Zi condemns killings in Plateau villages

Plateau North Senatorial District frontrunner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Gyang Zi,SAN, has condemned the barbaric killings of six persons in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of f Plateau State by unknown gunmen .
Zi ,SAN, in his Facebook page made available to this medium in Jos condemns the unprovoked attacked as shocking news .
He said ,My hearts is heavy for Nding Susut, Fan District in Barkin Ladi. On the night of May 5, 2026, armed assailants stormed this peaceful community and took the lives of an entire family and their neighbour.
According to him,six precious souls were lost, among them four women and a nine year old boy, all right outside their own homes.
Zi stated that the next afternoon, as grieving relatives gathered for the burial, the violence returned and mourners were forced to flee the graveside, leaving the burial unfinished as gunfire rang out.
He disclosed in his Facebook page that more than five neighbouring communities came under siege at the same time.
He described watching a man fall after being struck by bullets, while frightened villagers ran into the bushes with no security personnel in sight.
Zi deeply mourns with every mother who has lost her child, every child who saw things no young eyes should ever see, and every family now displaced from the land they have farmed for generations. Your sorrow is my sorrow.
He frowned that our Constitution guarantees the right to life under Section 33 and directs in Section 14(2)(b) that “the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government.”
What happened in Nding is a grave failure of that duty, and it must never be accepted as normal.
Gyang Zi called on the Nigerian Police and all security agencies to act with the speed this tragedy demands.
He stressed that those responsible must be found and held accountable without delay. Every moment they remain at large deepens the pain of the bereaved and leaves our communities in fear.
Zi also appealed directly to our youths and community leaders: please do not let grief push you into taking matters into your own hands. Channel your pain into cooperation with lawful authorities, and let us protect the very communities we love.
“I am committing myself fully to this cause. I will work, speak, and persist until our villages are no longer places of sorrow and sudden flight, until every child in Plateau North can rest without fear, and until every family can lay their loved ones to rest in peace”,he said.
He strongly condemns the killing of 12 people in a horrific midnight attack on Ngbra-Zongo village of Bassa LGA in Plateau State where Ten people are now receiving treatment for gunshot wounds.
The victims include pregnant women and children. Entire families were locked up in rooms of their homes and slaughtered one by one.
He urged security agencies to address widespread insecurity is costing lives. While pleading for government to tackle the endemic security crisis, the death toll tells a different story.
Plateau state is increasingly becoming unsafe, with attacks on both rural and urban communities forcing people to be living in constant fear of the next attack.
Many communities are dotted with mass graves of people killed inside their homes.
The people of Plateau State again and again. Frequent attacks by gunmen have deprived thousands of people of their rights to life, physical integrity, liberty, freedom of movement and access to livelihoods.
He is appealing to government to do more to end these attacks and ensure that the suspected perpetrators are brought to justice. Victims and survivors must be given adequate reparation.
