Farmer Governor Umaru Bago visits NAHCON Chairman, pledges support for his success.

Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Amb. Ismail Abba Yusuf.
The visit took place at the NAHCON chairman’s office in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
The farmer governor said his visit was to congratulate the NAHCON chairman on his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“I decided to come here to congratulate you on this very important assignment, which has multiple aspects. One is national, and the other is spiritual. I wish you all the best.”
He recognized that the task ahead for the NAHCON Chairman is formidable, especially since he assumed office when preparations for the 2026 Hajj were already well underway. However, he expressed confidence that, with the Chairman’s background and determination, the operations will run smoothly and successfully.
While emphasizing the importance of long-term planning, as seen in other countries, the farmer governor said the reduction in slots for the 2026 Hajj is strategic and aims to address some challenges faced in previous operations.
He mentioned that, with his experience as a former chairman of the National Assembly subcommittee on Hajj and as a current governor, he will rally support for Amb. Abba Yusuf to ensure a successful tenure.
NAHCON Chairman, Amb. Ismail Abba Yusuf, appreciated the farmer governor for the visit, describing it as very encouraging and memorable.
He explained that the reduction in slots for the 2026 Hajj is a global issue aimed at reducing the risk of any potential disease outbreaks.
According to him, “We have 50,000 lots; we have given 9,750 to tour operators, and the remaining 40,250 we gave to states. There’s nothing we can do about this. We’ll focus on the number.”
Amb. Abba Yusuf assured that arrangements are progressing smoothly through NAHCON and that there will be positive improvements in the 2026 Hajj operations.
