Niger State Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation Services Reinforces Partnership with EHOAN to Improve Water Quality, Sanitation, and Public Health
The Niger State Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation Services has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Environmental Health Officers Association of Nigeria (EHOAN), Niger State Chapter, to enhance water quality, sanitation, hygiene, and public health outcomes across the state.
This commitment was announced during a familiarization visit by EHOAN leaders to the Honorable Commissioner for Water Resources and Irrigation Services, Engineer Faruq Umar Audi, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the State Secretariat Complex, Minna.
The visit was shared with journalists in Minna by Safiya Yaman Muhammad, the Ministry’s Information Officer.
During the meeting, EHOAN President emphasized the crucial role of Environmental Health Officers in protecting public health and ensuring sustainable water quality management.
The association also called for increased institutional support and greater involvement of its members in water quality monitoring and sanitation initiatives throughout the region.
In response, Engineer Faruq Umar Audi, the Honorable Commissioner, committed the Ministry to working closely with EHOAN to achieve shared goals of safeguarding public health and expanding access to safe water.
He also assured plans for active involvement of Environmental Health Officers in water quality monitoring, sanitation programs, and related activities, highlighting ongoing engagement and future meetings.
Additionally, A. Kilu Musa Kuta, the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, noted that current organizational structures offer opportunities for Environmental Health Officers to contribute significantly to relevant programs.
He stressed that water and sanitation are vital components of public health and emphasized the importance of collaborative policy efforts to achieve sustainable results.
