PDP, LP Have No Candidates in Osun Gubernatorial Race as INEC Releases List
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Osun State, has announced that the People’s Democratic Party and the Labour Party have no candidates in the upcoming governorship election in Osun State.
The Commission announced on Sunday that 14 parties will participate in the election scheduled for August 8, 2026.
A statement by Musa Olurode, Public Relations Officer of INEC in Osun, revealed that only 14 political parties uploaded details of their candidates after the primaries concluded.
“The political parties that validly uploaded the names and particulars of their candidates and their running mates as released by the Headquarters of the Commission, Abuja, are: A, AA, AAC, ADC, ADP, APGA, APC, APM, APP, BP, NNPP, PRP, YPP, and ZLP.”
“In accordance with Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act 2022 and as provided in item 4 of the Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the Osun State Gubernatorial Election, the Commission has published the personal particulars of candidates and their running mates (Form EC9).
Copies of each candidate’s Form EC9, along with all accompanying academic credentials and other submitted documents, will be displayed at the INEC State Office and in all thirty (30) Local Government Area Offices and the Area Office of the Commission in Osun State on Monday, 16th February, 2026.
“Political parties, candidates, and members of the public are hereby advised to inspect the published documents as provided by law.”
The Commission further clarifies that only the fourteen (14) listed parties, having met the constitutional and regulatory requirements within the prescribed period, will participate in the upcoming Osun State Gubernatorial Election.
