Nigeria @ 65: Organised Labour in Niger State Commemorates Independence Day

The Organised Labour in Niger State marked Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day with a call for unity and collective action under this year’s theme: “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a New Niger and a Greater Nation.” The celebration occurred on October 1st, recognizing the significant milestones since the country’s independence in 1960.

In a statement, Comrade Ambassador Idrees Abdulkareem Lafene, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Niger State, highlighted several key achievements of the current administration, which he referred to as the “Farmer Governor.” Among the notable accomplishments are:

– The implementation of a ₦80,000 minimum wage for workers.
– Provision of domestic staff allowances for employees at level 15 and above.
– Enhanced healthcare facilities across the state.
– The employment of over 5,000 individuals contributes to economic growth and job creation.

Emphasizing the importance of national development and harmony, Comrade Ibrahim Gana, the Trade Union Congress (TUC) Chairman in Niger State, encouraged citizens to foster a spirit of resilience and patriotism as the nation works towards its aspirations for progress.

Comrade Lafene underscored the Organised Labour’s commitment to promoting peace among workers and celebrating Nigeria’s achievements in his address.

He expressed optimism about the future, calling on all stakeholders to continue their efforts towards a prosperous Niger State and a united Nigeria.

As Niger State remembers its journey toward independence, the Organised Labour reiterates its dedication to building a brighter future for all Nigerians.

Happy Independence Day!

Signed:-
