Niger PDP Elects New Executive Committee, Elects Aliyu Halidu as Chairman

The Niger State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially elected Alhaji Aliyu Mohammed Halidu as its new chairman. In a tightly contested election held over the weekend, Halidu emerged victorious, securing 1,289 votes against his opponent, Yahaya Abdullahi (Ability), who garnered 1,260 votes.
Tanimu Turaki, Chairman of the PDP Electoral Committee, announced the election results during a congress where eight positions were contested, with several other roles being filled unopposed. Notably, Hadi Kuta was declared the state Secretary, while Salomi Ndakosu won the position of Woman Leader, receiving 1,373 votes to outpace her rival, Ramotu Jibrin, who received 590 votes.
In his acceptance speech, Chairman Halidu called for unity among party members, emphasizing the need for collaboration to restore the party’s prominence.
“The PDP boasts a strong grassroots presence, and with collective effort, we can make the party great again,” he stated.
Halidu urged all factions within the party to set aside differences and work together towards the common goal of achieving electoral success, beginning with the upcoming local government elections scheduled for November.
He expressed confidence in the PDP’s potential to unseat the current ruling party in the 2027 elections, rallying members to join forces for a government focused on the needs of the people.
