Eddah Community Celebrates Launch of Electrification Project: A Catalyst for Growth and Development.

The Eddah Community in Shiroro Local Government Area recently marked a historic moment with the inauguration of the Electrification Project, commissioned by the North South Power Foundation.
This initiative represents a significant step toward enhancing energy access and fostering sustainable development within the Eddah community.
The commissioning ceremony took place at the heart of Eddah, featuring the unveiling of a state-of-the-art 300kVA Substation, alongside the complete electrification and wiring of the village.
The project, implemented by the North South Power Foundation (NSPF), is anticipated to transform the socio-economic landscape of Eddah and its surrounding areas.
Engr. U. E. Chioke, Chief Operating Officer of NSP, expressed his enthusiasm during the welcome address. He emphasized that the electrification project is a testament to NSP’s commitment to respecting and uplifting host communities. “Today, the Eddah Community is dignified through this Electrification Project, which brings electricity to the doorsteps of the people,” he stated, highlighting the initiative’s potential to improve illumination, enhance quality of life, drive economic empowerment through small enterprises, and bolster security for residents.
Chioke urged community members to safeguard the transformer from vandalism and to utilize the new electricity responsibly.
Mr. Olubunmi Peters, Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NSPCL, further outlined the project’s broader implications. He confirmed that the electrification substation would benefit not only Eddah but also neighboring communities.
Peters stressed that the project reflects NSPCL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, promoting sustainable living conditions through infrastructure improvements, including the establishment,renovation of schools, enhancements in healthcare facilities, and provision of potable water.
The company’s commitment to sustainable energy was echoed by Alhaji Garba Bala, District Head of Zumba, who, via a representative,Alhaji Garba Abarah praised NSPF’s efforts and called for similar initiatives to be extended to adjacent communities.
Alhaji Musa Mohammed, Ward Head of Eddah Community, also expressed optimism, stating that the new electricity source will bolster business activities and enhance security in the area.
The ceremony was graced by representatives from the Niger State Government, Shiroro Local Government Area, and several organizations dedicated to community development. Attendees praised NSF’s dedication to addressing energy needs in underserved area, with Honourable Hassan Abdullahi, NSPCL’s CSR Consultant, highlighting the importance of such initiatives for sustainable community welfare.
Residents of the Eddah community voiced their excitement and optimism regarding the impact of electricity on their daily lives, reflecting a shared anticipation for the opportunities this electrification will bring.
As Eddah embarks on this new chapter, the electrification project stands not just as a technological advancement, but as a cornerstone for future growth and prosperity in the community.
