Mokwa Flooding Disaster: Niger Christian Youth Forum Called for Immediate Action and Support for Mokwa.

The Niger Christian Youth Forum (NCYF) expresses profound sorrow in response to the recent flooding disaster that has severely impacted Mokwa town.

This calamity has resulted in tragic loss of lives, widespread destruction of homes and farmlands, and the displacement of numerous families.

We extend our deepest condolences to all those who have suffered losses in this tragic event. Our thoughts and prayers are with the affected families, and we stand united with the people of Mokwa during this challenging time.

We commend the swift interventions of compassionate individuals and leaders who have responded to this crisis, including Honourable Minister of Information Mallam Mohammed Idris Malagi, Distinguished Senators Peter Ndalikali Jiya and Mohammed Sani Musa, and Honourable Joshua Audu Gana, representing Lavun, Mokwa, and Edati Federal Constituency. Their immediate actions exemplify true leadership in times of adversity.

However, we urge these leaders to persist in using their influence to advocate for increased federal attention and relief resources to assist the affected communities.

We call upon the Niger State Government, Federal Government agencies such as NEMA, and other relevant bodies to take immediate action in providing essential emergency relief, rehabilitation plans, and long-term infrastructure solutions to prevent future disasters.

The ongoing climate change crisis is exacerbated by unsustainable practices, such as the rampant growth of the charcoal industry, which significantly impacts our environment and contributes to increased water runoff.

Additionally, we appeal to religious organizations, civil society groups, and all well-meaning Nigerians to extend their support to the victims in Mokwa.

This is an opportune moment to showcase compassion, generosity, and unity.

As a Forum dedicated to the welfare of Niger State youths and communities, we reaffirm our commitment to collaborating with all stakeholders to provide both spiritual and practical support to those affected by this disaster.

May God provide comfort to the grieving and facilitate healing for our land.

Signed:
Joshua Ndace
