Hisbah Police Destroys Over 50 Cartons Of Alcohol.

By Our Correspondent.

In a decisive enforcement operation, the Yobe State Hisbah Commission has confiscated and destroyed a total of 51 cartons of alcohol and 18 jerrycans of methylene chloride, commonly referred to as Madarar Sukurdai, as part of its commitment to upholding state laws and Islamic values that prohibit the sale and consumption of intoxicants.

Dr. Yahuza Hamza Abubakar, Chairman of the Commission, highlighted that this action is reflective of their broader mandate to foster a lawful and harmonious society.

Over the past year, the Commission has successfully mediated 565 disputes, tackling issues ranging from family conflicts and business disagreements to inheritance matters and farmer-herder disputes. Most cases were resolved amicably, emphasizing the importance of reconciliation and mutual understanding.

Established in March 2024 under the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni, the Hisbah Commission is dedicated to curbing social vices and promoting community welfare.

In a related effort, the Board recently destroyed over 170 bottles of alcoholic beverages worth N450,000 in Gashua, Bade Local Government Area, further underscoring its commitment to this cause.
